NT Quest Day 175 - Romans 12
Scripture:
Romans 12:
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.
Observation:
This is what I love about reading through an entire book of the Bible. I’m noticing things that I would have missed if I had just read a passage or two from this book or that book.
Up to this point in Romans, Paul describes all that God has done for us. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus alone. God’s mercy is on display as he offers to all the opportunity to be transformed from a life of sin and death. Anyone can come to the Father through the Son. Good news!
Now as Paul begins to wrap up his letter it’s our turn. How now should we live?
It’s all summed up in one little phrase: “in view of God’s mercy”
Application:
Just think about that for a moment. Recall all that God has done. Remember his promises. Reflect on the way he drew you to Himself. He has truly been merciful to us all.
So what now?
Offer all of yourself to God…inside and out. Leave nothing to your control.
Quit conforming. We have a new Lord and master. Serve him…not the world.
Change your mind. Begin to think the way God thinks.
Be honest with yourself. You are not that big of a deal. You are no more important than anyone else. Think of the grace God has offered to all..that means everyone!
Use your gifts. We’ve all got them. We all need what others have to offer. Begin using your giftedness to build the kingdom and reach the lost.
Micah 6:8 comes to mind:
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
In view of God’s mercy…can you do that?
Prayer:
God may I live this day in view of your mercy. I offer all I am to you today. My life is yours…use it for you glory! I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
