NT Quest Day 161 - Matthew 26
Scripture:
Matthew 26:
6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table.
Observation:
This woman proved her trust and belief in Jesus by anointing him for his ultimate purpose. When others refused to believe she gave the most precious thing she owned. And not only that…she gave of herself by using her hair to spread the perfume on Jesus feet (John 12:3).
Application:
What’s the nicest thing you own? The most expensive? The most precious to you? A prized possession. A treasured item.
No matter how you feel about it…God doesn’t need it. As a matter of fact Jesus doesn’t care what you have to offer him. Nice or not…prized or precious…expensive or flashy…he just doesn’t need it.
Let me say it again. Jesus doesn’t care what you have to offer him….
Until he knows that you are completely his.
We’ve all got gifts we can use for the kingdom. We’ve all got resources we could put to work for God. We’ve all got stuff that we think is worth something…but none of it matters unless we truly belong to Jesus.
The woman in Simon’s house belonged to Jesus. She understood his purpose. And in response she gave what she had but more importantly she demonstrated her faith by her actions.
Think back to the nicest things you own….Now imagine giving it all away…free of charge. Just letting go and offering it to someone else. Can you do that for Jesus? More importantly can you offer him your most prized possession? Your life?
Just keep reading…and you will see…
He did…
For you.
Prayer:
Offer yourself to Jesus. Give him everything. Everything.
